Hi
I’m Todd Ruthven, a creative director by title and an art director by heart. Proud to be born, raised, schooled and employed in Detroit and proud to have helped forge big, honking ideas for companies like Ford, Lincoln and Jaguar. I dig cars.
But I also like stuff that isn’t cars. And here in Detroit, I’ve worked on iconic brands like Goodyear, Warrior Lacrosse and Hockey, Brine Lacrosse, Burger King, Shell, Shinola, Detroit Brothers Motorcycles and Motorcraft.
Along the way, I’ve art-directed, developed, managed, produced and nitpicked campaigns that cover everything from Super Bowl spots to Facebook Carousels. I’ve launched products, reenergized brands and left way too many vacation days on the table.
I think modern. Believe me, I’m adept at leveraging data-informed execution of relevant, targeted influentials to enhance consumer engagement and brand equity via emerging C-suite platforms and ROI RFP EOD’s. Ask anyone.
But I’d rather just come up with a big idea that simply invites you in with a strong hook and rewards you for paying attention. Print and TV? They’re not dead. They’re just waiting for us to do something that’s actually entertaining.
I’ve been blessed to work with some of the greatest people in the business and in some of the most amazing places on the planet. I’ve been to Thailand, South Africa and Alaska. Germany, Romania and India. I’ve been to the Indy 500, Daytona 500 and 17 out of the 58 National Parks. I even journeyed from the tip of Norway to the North Pole on an icebreaker crewed by Russian sailors who I believed were plotting to kill me in my sleep. Or awake. It didn’t matter to them.
All for the love of the job. Of advertising.
What else do I love? I’m an avid outdoorsman, a restorer and collector of cars and motorcycles, an amateur photographer, painter and a very proud husband and father. I’m a lucky man.
